Yes, your support can handle requests from customers’ personal AI agents, as long as every decision comes from a written rule and the customer’s account data, not from how the request is worded. In Fini (usefini.com), Agent Handshake does this: the same request gets the same answer, whoever is asking and however many times they ask. It is available to all Fini customers and is switched on per account.

What personal AI agents are

A personal AI agent is an AI assistant that completes tasks with businesses for one person: it fills in forms, sends messages and places calls. As of October 2026 there are more than a dozen, including: The jobs people hand over first are support jobs: cancellations, refunds and billing disputes, by chat, email, phone or web form.

What changes when an agent contacts support

Support was built for a person who asks once or twice and accepts the answer. A personal agent behaves differently:
  • It rewords. Told to get a refund, it hears no and asks again in new words, many times.
  • It negotiates. It tries partial refunds, goodwill gestures and threats to close the account.
  • It may fish for details, such as the phone number or card on file.
  • Its authority is unclear. An account number in a message is not proof of who sent it, or of what the customer allowed.
  • It can loop. Two agents can go round in circles if neither is built to stop.
Most support AI answers by searching help articles, so a reworded request can return a different answer, and a persistent agent will find it. In banking, fintech, insurance and healthcare, one wrong yes is a compliance problem. Blocking agents rarely helps: behind each one is a customer who wanted something done.

How Agent Handshake handles personal agents

Your policy stays the same for agents and people.
1

The same request gets the same decision

Fini works out the intent, pulls the customer’s live account data and applies your written rules. No document search sits between question and decision, so every rewording of a refund request reaches the same rule. See Rulebook.
2

Every reply is checked before it is sent

Guardrails check each reply for banned terms, customer details you have marked confidential, links outside your allowed list, and rules you write in plain language. If a reply fails a check, Fini rewrites it or hands the conversation to your team.
3

It knows when to stop

Once the answer has been given, Fini stops repeating it. When a human is needed, Fini escalates to your team with the full conversation. When the customer is needed, Fini sends the agent back to its owner.
4

Likely personal agents are tagged in the Inbox

From message patterns and request speed, Fini tags conversations that likely come from a personal agent. Your team sees the tag and any flagged replies in Inbox.
5

You control what an agent can do

You decide which actions an agent can ask for. You can require the customer’s approval before an agent changes anything on the account, and anything that moves money can go to a human.
Agent Handshake is switched on per account. To switch it on, talk to your Fini contact.

How should support teams prepare for AI agents contacting them on behalf of customers?

These steps apply whichever AI support platform you use.
  1. List the requests customers will hand to an agent first: cancellations, refunds, billing disputes and status checks.
  2. Write each rule so it gives one answer. If two articles disagree, an agent will find the one it prefers. See Preparing your knowledge base.
  3. Mark the customer details that must never appear in a reply, and switch on Guardrails for them.
  4. Decide which actions need the customer’s approval or a human, especially anything that changes account data or moves money.
  5. Define the handoff both ways: to your team, and back to the customer. See Designing an escalation policy.
  6. Run the twenty-ways test. Write one request twenty different ways and run all twenty against your setup. The decision should match every time; if it doesn’t, tighten the rule.
  7. Review the first agent conversations in Inbox and adjust.

FAQ

Yes. Serve the agent under the same policy as the customer, decide from written rules and account data, check every reply before it is sent, and require the customer’s approval for sensitive actions. In Fini, Agent Handshake does this.
It does not depend on one agent brand. Fini recognizes agents from how a conversation behaves, and the same rules and checks apply to all of them.
No. It is built to serve agents. An agent gets the answer the customer would get, without the queue. Anything beyond your policy needs the customer or a person on your team.
